When looking for frames for art prints we recommend testing several types of framing to choose the one that suits you best:
- if the illustration has a white background, the frame can be the size of the print;
- if the illustration has a coloured background (or is itself cluttered and full of detail), the frame can be a larger size, so use the passepartout (the wide cardboard border that comes with the frame) to let the illustration breathe, so it doesn’t get squeezed by the frame.
- if you like your illustration to have generous white borders, we recommend the passepartout regardless of the background of the illustration.
Framing can be a matter of taste and preference, so please honour the option that you think looks best and explore in different shops how the framing differs.
